Union electrician looking to see if there is work in chicago area
I am a union electrician from new jersey, thinking of moving to chicago for a year or two, possibly by the summer of 09. Are there many big jobs going on and how are the winters with work? Also can you solicite your own work out there or is it all dealt with signing the books?

About how fast of a scooter/moped do I need to get to ride back and forth from work in Chicago

How fast of a scooter/moped do I need to get to ride back and forth from work in Chicago?
I will be going about 5 miles. From around Ashland and Division to Addison and Western. I found a scooter that is 49cc so I would not need to get a motorcycle license which I like but it only goes around 30. Do you think that is going to be way to slow?

30 is kinda slow. Try getting one that goes 50 but then again, you have to realize that usually Chicago always has traffic so there might only be a few occasions you'd be hitting the top speed..

I have experience in sales, administrative assisting, modeling and scored a 93.4 on the FAA's AT-SAT so I am pretty smart.

Would the crime prevention tactics that New York has work in Chicago?
Of late, there's been someone shot on a daily basis, something that you'd normally hear about during the summer, not in the colder months. Is there a link to what you wrote about the blue and red?

Who cares? Inner cities are the realm of democrats mostly. Did you know that the average number of murders in blue counties in the US is 13.2 per 100,000? The average number of murders in red counties is 2.1 per 100,000. The real question is why are democrats more than 6 times as likely to be murderers as conservatives? Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the most recent Presidential election: Population of counties won: by Gore, 127 million; by Bush, 143 million; Square miles of land won: by Gore, 580,000; by Bush, 2,427,000; States won: by Gore, 19; by Bush, 29; Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won: by Gore, 13.2; by Bush, 2.1. Professor Olson adds, "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was (mostly) the land owned by the tax-paying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off government welfare.." Olson believes the U.S. is now somewhere between the "apathy" and the "complacency" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy; with some 40 percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

They don't even work in New York. You just don't hear about it because you don't live here.
