I'm headed for Las Vegas soon and asked the same question. Customer service said the connection comes from the nearest tower, and that service is nation-wide. It should work fine.

I work in Chicago Illinois and its at mcdonalds recently the restaurant manager has started a new policy?
the new policy is suspending workers if they call off work for ANY reason and what I want to know is if i call off sick and bring in proof i went to the doctor can he suspend me? What if I have to make my kids to the ER and have to call off? It would be great if you show me where you got the answer for example illinois dept of labor

Hell No!!!!!! Unless this is nor all Mc.Donalds, that the owner of all of them made, then freak no!! check the department of labor... call them... and if he or she does lay you off, their ass is in HUGE trouble, and you can sue the company!! UNLESS the WHOLEEE Mc.Donalds comapny over all made this a policy, and that's illegal to do anyways, if you have something that can make other people of the work place sick, and you have a doctors note... they HAVE to let you slide.... The boss sounds like a penor! Lol, don't worry.

Absolutely not. Labor law allows for sick leave for self and for dependents too, so this would be a violation of that law. I suspect this particular Manager or Owner is just fed up with unreliable people and is trying to stem the flow of people calling off since when that happens everyone else suffers. They're trying to scare people into not calling off instead of doing the right thing and actually managing their team so that people WANT to come to work!

Federal and state law allows for sick leave and FMLA. It doesn't say anything about frequent call-ins. Employers can let someone go for any reason. If you have too many call-ins that gives them more of a reason to let you go. If they violate something like civil rights then you have a case. If you look at the law you'd be surprised at the things employers are NOT obligated to do for you.

Contact the Corporate Office of McDonalds in Oakbrook. Even if you are at a franchised McDonalds, the owner still has to strictly follow the HR policies of McDonalds.
