About what do I wear to work in Chicago

What do I wear to work in Chicago?
I'm looking to move to Chicago in the not-too-distant future and I plan on walking to the nearest bus or train, even in the winter. I'm a fan of pencil skirts, strappy heels, etc., but I don't see how those will work in the Windy City. So am I stuck in thick pants suits for eight months out of the year, or is there a better option?

The choice of clothing you mentioned won't be too bad during the spring and summer months. When late fall and winter come into play, you're going to want to wear something different. For your information, Chicago is called the windy city because of politicians, not because of any particular weather patterns. Undoubtedly, there are days when the city lives up to its name. I recommend that you get used to our weather here so that you may choose the clothing you are most comfortable with.

You can wear skirts if you have a long wool coat and switch out the heels for boots at the end of the day.

When women get off the commuter trains in downtown Chicago during winter, they wear long, warm coats, scarves, sometimes hats, always warm shoes and carry their heels. Some wear skirts, some wear pants. All walk fast.
