Can what worked in Chicago, really work on the national stage?
Barack Obama USED the Trinity United Church of Christ, the largest black church. This solidified himself with the black community, here in Chicago. This is a very liberal city, and it's full of corruption. Why would he think that what worked here, would work across the entire nation? Politics - 6 Answers

Yes, maybe. I don't know. Obama could be wright...(right). Democrat Corruption in Chicago is rampant just like in all Liberal Big Cities. But Chicago is the Leader in Democrat Corruption. Chicago was the FIRST city that discovered Dead Democrat Voters. Now, they are in Most Big Cites around the country. No one knows (or wants to know) just how many Dead Democrats vote each election. Several groups have put a wild estimate at 2 million Dead Democrat Voters across the Nation. That makes a good Voting Block.

I think he's smart enough to know it doesn't. He just underestimated the boat anchor this issue would be.

Chicago brought us Chicago math which schools in our district adopted ... Our students math skills over the ten years of this have actually disintegrated ... Chicago math is where you only teach the children half the math and hope they eventuallly make the connection that it works in reverse. The reasoning was so that the chicago test scores would increase for more funding. Well I hope that philosophy stops because our kids are falling way behind regardless of test scores they are incapable of handling advance math now because of their lack of mastery of basic math and all should be expected to learn all the math.

I think it will work on a national scale and not just with African Americans. I think he'll pick up a large crossover vote from Conservative Christians disenchanted with McCain and the Neocons. He has two things going for him there. First, he speaks like a Hellfire Preacher. Baptists may not like what he's saying, but they love the way he talks. Second, it's less important in politics whether people like or agree with you than whether they trust you. Fundies have learned that Republicans promise everything and deliver nothing on their issues. A politician who tells them to their face that their full of it and then asks them what they can LIVE WITH, could pick up a lot of support. You don't have to give folks everything they want, just let them know that you're listening and taking them seriously. But it's not enough. Obama has to come up with some concrete ideas and he knows it. The question is whether he can get out from under all that Obama\Osama, Muslim\Racist Christian, Black\Not Black enough crap in time to establish his ideas.. If he can't, I may have to hold my nose and vote for Hilly. America just can't afford another Republican in the White House.
